Wishful Tales by Barbara Hinske ~ 5⭐

Genre: Women’s Fiction ~ Release Date: October 17, 2024

REVIEW:

Wishful Tails by Barbara Hinske is the fifteenth book in the Wishing Tree Series written by several authors. I think this is one of the first series I absolutely fell in love with and I have read every book in the series. I can’t put them down.

First of all I will tell you that these authors write seamlessly. I really can’t tell one from the other although there are a few of them I review for on a regular basis. I think that says a lot about these ladies. They are tuned into this series and write it as one although each book is written individually. Some authors have written more books in the series than others. I love every chance I get to catch up with these characters.

The books take place in Linden Falls which is a small town. You know I really like small town settings. You get to know all of the characters intimately that way. The town has a tree in the park which they call the Wishing Tree. People put their wishes on a piece of paper and hang them on the tree. Other people sometimes will grant a wish and they also get answered by a higher power.

This book is about Pam and Steve. They work in a fitness center together and also on a home makeover show. This is the second season for the show and they are about to start filming. There is a lot that happens in this story and I want you to read it and enjoy the events as they happen. It is so much more fun that way and it will make your heart melt and your eyes leak.

If you love clean romance, small town relationships and just good down-home stories then you will love this series and Wishful Tails by Barbara Hinske. She does not disappoint with this new installment of the series. By the way, don’t be afraid to jump in and start with this book because they can all be read as a stand-alone. You also might like to know the first book in the series is a free download! What are you waiting for? Until next time…Happy Reading!

A Love Worth Waiting For by Lara Van Hulzen ~ 5⭐

Genre: Small Town Romance ~ Release Date: October 8, 2024

REVIEW:

Oh Boy! I have some great news for you. I found a new author and a brand new series. The author’s name is Lara Van Hulzen and her new book is A Love Worth Waiting For. It is book one in a new series named The Nearlake Series. I found so many things to love about this first book so, I’m really excited for the rest of it to hit my inbox!

First of all, I totally fell in love with the cover. Isn’t it a beauty? I could sit on those chairs taking in that scenery all day long. I can’t stop looking at it. Of course, a good book, a cozy blanket and a hot thermos of tea would be the icing on the cake.

I’ve been in my golden years for a while now so the romance of a teenager doesn’t always get me excited. This book is the romance of a couple in their forties. Those are at least years I can remember clearly. So, I enjoyed reading about a couple that have some experience under their belts. The main character is Sadie who is the owner of an antiques store in town. The love interest is James the Sheriff in town who has a teenage daughter.

I truly enjoyed the developing relationship between these two. I am not going to spoil it and tell you how it all works out. You can read it and enjoy that for yourself. It is worth the journey. I especially liked her Aunt JoJo.

This is another one of those special books that takes place in a small town. You know me and the fact that I love small town settings. I come from a little town and yearn to go back. These books always bring me back to my hometown. I think all small towns are the same. Everyone knows each other and they all know your business or at least think they do.

There is a little history in the book. The history of the town and history of the antiques store. The store also carries old books. How fun is that? If you like old things and people, history and a nice clean romance, I highly recommend this new book and the series that is to follow. Until next time…Happy Reading!

Rival Hearts by Wendy Million ~ 5⭐

Genre: Small Town Fiction ~ Release Date: October 4, 2024

REVIEW:

As I was reading the new novel by Wendy Million titled Rival Hearts I was wishing she wrote a series instead of a standalone because I definitely wanted to spend more time with these characters in the small town of Little Falls.  Well, imagine my surprise when I got to the end of the story and found out that this is indeed the first book in a brand new series. It’s called Little Falls Series – Small Town Romance! It was mentioned at the beginning of the book but I was in a hurry to get started and totally missed it.

This book is about Maggie Sullivan and Grady Castillo. Maggie is the Pharmacist and Mayor in town. She is running unopposed until Grady decides to throw a wrench in her plans. Grady is a singer songwriter that won a singing competition and left town never to return. Rival Hearts is a small town former friends to enemies to lovers romance with mid-level open door steam/spice. There are also discussions of parental death and grief. I didn’t mind the open door scenes or the parental death and grief. It is a part of life and I think Ms. Million handled it well.

I think I have read every book that Wendy Million has written. The first series I read by her was the Donaghey Brothers Series. I didn’t think I would like that series but I loved it and devoured every book. Now, I don’t need to know what the series or book is about. If Wendy Million wrote it, I’m going to read it. She has always delivered a great story that held my interest with characters I could care about and feel like I knew.

Her storylines are top notch. I especially like the male characters. I think most women would like a man who protected their women like these guys do. Even if protection isn’t needed, they fiercely love their woman. I don’t know about you but that makes me swoon just a little bit.

If you love a book that gives you a good storyline and characters and you haven’t read anything by Wendy Million yet, I don’t know what you are waiting for! If you have read her books, then you will definitely want to check out her Little Falls Series – Small Town Romance! Rival Hearts is a book I won’t forget anytime soon. Until next time,,,Happy Reading!

My little brother’s girlfriend was always supposed to be mine.

The first time I met good girl Maggie Sullivan, she was my brother’s guest at Sunday dinner. That should have been enough to keep me away. It wasn’t.

The night I lost my tightly held control—she kissed me back and it was everything I could have ever imagined.

Until our lives changed forever as my family went down in flames.

I left and never planned to come back to our small town.

Now, years later, everyone knows my songs. The ones I wrote about her. The scars that never healed, bleeding out on stage.

Fame and its late nights get tiring, so I’ve returned to Little Falls to right my wrongs.

With only twenty-four hours until perfect, little Maggie Sullivan is reelected mayor uncontested, I decide to throw a wrench into her plans.

Except I’m the one getting screwed again because all these years later, she’s still the only woman I want.

A Place of Refuge by Marlayne Giron ~ 5⭐

Genre: Amish Romance ~ Release Date: September 24, 2024

REVIEW:

A Place of Refuge is the sequel to Second Chance Inn by Marlayne Giron. These are the first two books I’ve read by this author and hopefully they won’t be my last. I loved these books. There were so many good things and hard situations going on in the first book and that certainly continued in the second book.

A Place of Refuge started up where Second Chance Inn started. I am not going to tell you how it started because I want you to have the same experience I had when I read both of them. I did have a waiting time between them. You won’t have to do that. You will need to read the first book to understand everything in the second. They both might do well as standalone but, I think you will have a more rewarding and satisfying read if you read book one first.

These are Amish romance books although Rachel the main character is not Amish. I found myself torn by what was going on in the books. I wanted to side with the Amish beliefs but, on the other hand I was conflicted. I have my own beliefs and they are not as strict.

This book also goes into the Christmas season. If you know me at all, I love Christmas stories. It is not totally consumed with Christmas but the book ends at Christmas. It left me wondering about the future and how things are going to work out. There is an abrupt ending to this book and actually the first one too. That is always the author’s choice. It keeps us coming back for more. I’ll be back for more! Will you?

If you have faith in your life, love a good story and one that partially takes place at Christmas time, then this book is for you. I sat down with both of these books and was hooked until I was sadly done with them. I was sad because I wanted more and now I have to wait. Hopefully, it won’t be long. Until next time…Happy Reading!

Come Home For Christmas by Tammy L. Grace ~ 5⭐

Genre: Holiday Fiction ~ Release Date: October 2, 2024

REVIEW:

Are you looking for a great Christmas book to read for the Holidays? If you are, I have a book that I would like to recommend to you. It is called “Come Home for Christmas” by Tammy L. Grace. It is book nine in The Hometown Harbor series. I love this series and this book is the cherry on the top for the upcoming Holidays.

Tammy writes with such warmth and heart. Her books just pull me in. Once I start one of her books, I’m lost in another world that I don’t want to ever leave. If you try to talk to me you will find that I am either not listening or looking at you like an alien I don’t understand. I live so deep in the stories Tammy tells. She is a master storyteller in my opinion. I can’t get enough of her books.

Friday Harbor is the town where these stories take place. The folks that live and work there have either been there most of their lives or have gone there to heal from some trauma in their lives. They are without question taken in and treated as one of the group of folks that inhabit these books as one of them. I don’t know about you but, having a warm group of loving friends is right at the top of my list of wants and needs.

Tammy makes the surroundings come alive. Whether it is the restaurants, coffee shops or the markets and hardware stores on the main drag or the winery and golf course out of town. The views from the Harbor with the water come alive. I love my visits there because she makes me feel like I am shoulder to shoulder with these people.

This for me was a very special Christmas story. I love the stories of this series, the folks I have gotten to know and the surroundings. Everything! The main story in this book is about a woman named Noel who returns to Friday Harbor after losing her mother and finding out she was adopted. She hopes to find out the mystery behind her own birth.

That sounds like a heartwarming Christmas story to me. Does it to you? Have I caught your interest? I hope so! I hope you are like me and are always looking for stories like this that will give you the warm fuzzies at Christmas. I’m always on the quest looking for the ultimate Christmas story. I need one special book every year during the Holidays. This is my recommendation for your Holiday reading. Until next time…Happy Reading!

The Bad Neighbor by Jenifer Ruff ~ 5⭐

Genre: Crime Fiction ~ Release Date: October 1, 2024

REVIEW:

The Bad Neighbor by Jennifer Ruff is definitely a must read! It is the ninth book in the Agent Victoria Heslin Series. If you haven’t read this series yet, never fear. Each of the books in her series read as standalones. That is really nice. In fact I started the series on book 3 and own one and two. I hope to find time this winter to go back and read them. The perk of reading them in order is that you learn Victoria’s past and get to know her as she excels with her career with the FBI.

I have to say that out of the seven books I’ve read of this particular series, I’ve enjoyed every one of them. The cases are all so different and they hold your interest from the very first page. I love a book that grabs your interest and won’t let you go. Don’t you?

This book was very different because it takes place in her own exclusive neighborhood. She doesn’t often spend a lot of time at home. She is on the road a lot solving cases and looking for criminals. Consequently she doesn’t know her neighbors that well. A new couple moved in down the street recently and the wife went missing. Victoria is on vacation and immediately lends a hand in the search. All of the neighbors and even the husband are looked at as the culprit.

I have to say she kept me guessing. I had a hint of where she might be and I also thought it might be the teenage son of one couple. She kept me reading and I had a hard time putting this page-turner down. I even dreamed of this book at night. That is always a good indication to me that this is an exceptional book. I don’t dream about every book that I read. It has to be one my mind is working on in the background.

If you love a good mystery and one that just happens to include an old murder that was thought to be a disappearance then this book should be your next engrossing read. It certainly needs to be on your nightstand. I highly recommend this book for your reading pleasure. Until next time…Happy Reading!

For newcomers Chris and Zoey Hamilton, the affluent community seems like the perfect location to build a life together. Instead, history repeats itself when Zoey vanishes without a trace—just like the previous homeowner five years ago.

The more Victoria digs, the clearer it becomes: the secrets in Mountain Meadows run deep, and the greatest threats aren’t lurking in the shadows…they’re hosting dinner parties, attending parent-teacher conferences, going to yoga, and waving hello from behind their perfectly trimmed hedges. One of those polite, smiling individuals will stop at nothing to keep the past buried.

THE BAD NEIGHBOR is book 9 in the award-winning Agent Victoria Thriller Series by USA Today bestselling author, Jenifer Ruff. Each book features a unique investigation and can be read as a STANDALONE.

“I say this every time I read a new Agent Victoria Heslin thriller, but this is the best one yet! The Bad Neighbor is a highly addictive read. Layers of mystery continue to unfold, keeping you guessing until the last page.” – USA Today bestselling author Audrey J. Cole

“The Bad Neighbor by Jenifer Ruff is a gripping domestic thriller that kept me hooked and had me guessing until the very end. Highly recommend!” – H.K. Christie, Author of the Martina Monroe Thriller Series

“The Bad Neighbor is a real page-turner. Great, nail-biting suspense, excellent writing, and a heart-pounding conclusion.” – Addison Michael, author of the Mak and Wilton Thriller Series

The Paris Daughter by Soraya Lane ~ 5⭐

Genre: 20th Century Historical Romance ~ Release Date: September 16,  2024

REVIEW:

Soraya Lane has once again delivered a story that will keep you turning the pages in The Paris Daughter. It is the fifth book in The Lost Daughters series which is currently a six book series. I’m really hoping for more in this series but I’m not holding my breath. This is a wonderful series for many reasons.

The number one reason I love this series is all the places we as readers get to visit. This book takes place in Paris, France and London. London is in all of the books as the location of a home for unwed mothers. I have enjoyed all of the places and the times that we were taken to in each book.

The description of the locations makes you feel like you are there yourself. I loved the smell of the roses, the smell and feel of the ocean and the food. This book was about the fashion design in Paris. Seeing the dresses in your mind and feeling the fabrics was oh so yummy. I’m not sure how the author made this all come so alive in my mind. It was absolutely wonderful!

The character development was phenomenal. I came to love so many of these characters and their families. We also were able to meet locals and get to know them. I fell in love with so many men. Oh my! It felt like you were with the main characters on the trip and involved in the search for answers to the missing mothers.

Each of these books involves a mystery. The mystery birth mother. Each of the families received small wooden boxes that held something for the adopted child if they came back at a later date looking for information about their birth mother. If you like mysteries and solving them, these books will satisfy that. They all can be read as standalone books. So, jump in and pick one that appeals to you.

If you are like me and love a book with a good mystery, characters to fall in love with and sometimes cry with, and setting to die for, then I highly recommend this series. The Paris Daughter has Paris and fashion and love and what is not to love about that? Until next time…Happy Reading!

Before We Were US by Denise Hunter ~ 5 ⭐

Genre: Contemporary Christian Romance ~ Release Date: September 10, 2024

REVIEW:

One thing I always know when I sit down with a Denise Hunter Novel is that I am in for an enjoyable read. Before We Were Us did not disappoint. She has always provided me with stories that fill my heart and give me warm fuzzies. I enjoy books that can do that to me. I admit I’m a sucker for a good love story. I prefer the ones that are not the typical love story and Denise’s books are not typical. There is always something a little different about them.

This book has a main character named Lauren that suffers a fall and loses about 4 months of her memories. Her then boyfriend Jonah can’t forget the time they spent together and Lauren doesn’t want to remember. She is by nature a go-getter and has big plans for her life. She is not about to give them up for just any man! Would you?

I loved the ride this story took me on. It is a good clean romance and I found myself rooting for Jonah and their love story. His parents and sister are all characters that you learn to care for as they run the small rustic resort where Lauren is working for the summer. Her being there is a condition of her dream job in the big city.

Denise Hunter writes clean romances and if that is in your wheelhouse, you will definitely want to put this one on your nightstand. Until next time…Happy Reading!

Long Way Home by Tammy L. Grace ~ 5⭐

Genre: Women’s Literature ~ Release Date: September 4, 2024

REVIEW:

Long Way Home is the eighth book in the Hometown Harbor Series by Tammy L. Grace. I love this series so far. I don’t think I’ve read all of the books and I promise you I’m going to sit down and figure out which ones I’ve read and get caught up this winter. I have been saving space in my schedule to read some books I have wanted to read for a long time.

This book takes place in the small town of Friday Harbor. Tammy gives us such an idyllic description of this town and the year around residents that inhabit Friday Harbor. If I could, I would pack my bags and live there. The characters are so welcoming and friendly. This book is the story of Amelia and Noah. I remember Noah from another series and how he made his way to this wonderful place.

Noah has a life-altering shadow over him and Amelia is healing from a devastating loss. These two characters were made for each other. While Amelia is staying at a friend’s home she does some volunteer work delivering food to some elderly and needy people. I enjoyed some of the residents that she came to know and love. I am not sure that any author can develop the characters that Tammy does. I always find myself shedding tears or grinning with happiness for them. I don’t know how she does it but she has a unique talent.

If you love stories of family and friendship with hints of romance and definitely clean romance, then the books of the Hometown Series by Tammy L. Grace should definitely be on your radar. She is at the top of my favorite author list. You can’t go wrong when you pick one of them up to read. These books can all be read as stand alone novels and Long Way Home is not an exception. Until next time…Happy Reading!

Second Chance Inn by Marlayne Giron ~ 5⭐

Genre: Amish Romance ~ Release Date: October 13, 2023

REVIEW:

New author, new book, new series, what could be better? I still consider myself a lucky girl. I have read so many good books. I am very careful what I say I will read so most of my books are rated 5 stars because of that. I have a long list of books to read and I don’t think I’ll ever run out of books. Do you all have a long “to be read pile”? I can’t resist. If life didn’t get in the way, I could read all day everyday. There are things that come up and things that need done so that doesn’t happen too much.

The book I just finished is by Marlayne Giron. It is titled Second Chance Inn. Did I rate it 5 stars? You bet I did! I literally loved this story, the setting, the characters, all of it. From page one I was hooked.

First of all this is an Amish story. I will have to say I have read several Amish stories and have enjoyed every one of them. This one was different in oh so many ways! I have a bit of knowledge of the Amish ways because I lived in a community that was home to many of those families. I did however learn more about them in this book and what happens to them if they communicate or become too friendly with the non-Amish people in the area. I do like learning new things. I do like the sense of community and the closeness they have with each other.

This story is about a woman and her daughter from California who loses her husband and has to move somewhere with a lower cost of living to survive. She buys the farm of an Amish man who has lost his wife and children in a buggy accident. The agreement is he will stay on as caretaker. You can probably guess where this is going and all the problems that come from it.

There is a sequel coming out the first of October named A Place of Refuge. I will be reading it. I am totally looking forward to the rest of the story. There is so much that has to be dealt with and I am not sure if we are looking at more heartache or a lot of happiness.

If you love romance and Amish stories, this book should be on your radar if you haven’t read it yet. If you have, I’m happy to let you know there is a sequel coming out. I know I can’t wait to read it. Until next time…Happy Reading!

SYNOPSIS:

Rachel Winston is suddenly and tragically widowed in her early 30s. She and her adopted, teenaged daughter, Karen, are forced to leave everything behind in Southern California. She purchases an Amish farmhouse in Lancaster County, PA to open an Amish-style Bed & Breakfast Inn. The farmhouse she purchases was put on the market by a young Amish widower, Samuel Miller, who recently lost his wife and five children in a buggy accident. He has moved into the Dawdi house to maintain the farm and Rachel happily cooks, cleans, and does his laundry in exchange for his help.

Thrown together by tragic loss, their mutual suffering draws them together against the rules of his community. Solace and friendship soon turn into something deeper, putting him at great risk for shunning. Rachel struggles to adapt while her daughter finds it easier to fit in to the Amish lifestyle.

Will Rachel succeed in becoming sufficiently Amish so she can be with Samuel, or will their blossoming relationship doom them both as outcasts?
