Beach Dreams by Tammy L Grace ~ 5⭐

Genre: Family Life Fiction ~ Release Date: June 7, 2022

REVIEW: As usual, I flew through Beach Dreams by Tammy L. Grace. I love her books and can’t keep myself away from them once I get started. Beach Dreams was not any different and now I sit here wondering when she has another book coming out.

Beach Dreams was the conclusion to a three part series called Glass Beach Cottage. I hated to see it end. It is a lovely series. There are a few authors that are among my favorites that have a knack of bringing out all the feels. Tammy is one of them. Do you ever read a book and feel like your soul is wallowing in the goodness of the book? That’s what I’m getting at. There are good characters, good plots, great settings, fun and clean romance and tribulations that have satisfying conclusions. They have it all and you can’t think of one thing that could make the book better.

I love that she brings characters from other books into her plots. They visit each other as old friends and it gives you a chance to catch up with old friends as well. While reading this book there were characters from the Hometown Harbor Series that Lily went to visit. The one that brought a big smile to my face was the mention of planning a visit to Linden Falls where The Wishing Tree Series takes place. I have read and reviewed the first seven books in this series and am looking forward to the next six this fall with a few new authors. If you haven’t started The Wishing Tree Series, I urge you to check it out and download book one The Wishing Tree. Best of all it is FREE!

If you are like me and enjoy several different genres of fiction but always rely on the sweet romance to mix things up a bit, Beach Dreams and Glass Beach Cottage Series will do the trick. They are a wonderful respite from the Psychological Thrillers, Mysteries and Historical Fiction that I read a lot of. These books soothe my soul and relax me.

Love Child by Ashley Farley ~ 5⭐

Genre: Family Life Saga Fiction ~ Release Date: May 17, 2022

REVIEW: I have to admit I was dragging my feet. I didn’t want to start Love Child by Ashley Farley. You see, her new series Virginia Vineyards is a spin off of her Hope Springs series. I was so in love with the story line, the characters and the setting of Hope Springs that I didn’t want to leave. Have you ever felt that way about a series? The author starts a new series and you want to be stubborn and stay behind living in Hope Springs.

Well…I’m a reviewer and had to put my feeling aside and jump in. Oh my goodness. I fell in love on the first page! Ollie is a character from Hope Springs that leaves and moves to Lovely. She buys her own vineyard and she brings Fiona with her to get things rolling. There is a lot to do. Along comes Casey Hobbs who is just the graphic designer Ollie needs to get her vineyard the attention it deserves. BUT, like any good story there are problems to iron out at Foxtail Farms.

I’m not sure how Ashley did it, but she did! She hogtied and roped me in so fast my head is still spinning. This is going to be a wonderful series. I finished the book in one day. It’s not terribly long but, I sure hated to turn that last page. Sometimes, I wish I could wait until all the books are all out and binge read them. I can’t do that because my job as a reviewer is to get my opinion out there and hopefully draw in readers old and new to Ashley’s books.

Believe me when I tell you, if I didn’t love her books I would not have requested to be on her review team. I read some of her stand alone novels and was totally drawn in by the passion, angst and perseverance of her characters. Her story lines are not only fabulous but, they are interesting. I always get lost in the world of her characters. Why don’t you pre-order your Love Child today and join me in reading this series?

Book two Blind Love comes out July 26, 2022. We don’t have long to wait! I’m so excited…

SYNOPSIS: Small-town romantic suspense from USA Today bestselling author Ashley Farley.

Casey Hobbs has never met her father. She doesn’t know his identity or where he lives or whether he has children. She’s spent the past three years at her mother’s sickbed, watching cancer eat away her organs and their bank account. Upon her mother’s death, Casey receives a letter containing clues about her mysterious father. With nothing left for her in New York, Casey packs her meager belongings in her mother’s old convertible and heads off in search of Daniel Love.

Casey finds the Virginia mountains charming and the small town of Lovely quaint. Buying time while she determines how best to approach her father, Casey accepts a job as graphic designer with Foxtail Farm, a boutique winery conveniently located next door to Love-Struck Vineyard. On her first day, she discovers her new boss is at war with the Love children, Casey’s half siblings.

Weeks pass before Casey meets her father. Casey reminds Daniel of her mother, the true love of his life, and he welcomes her with open arms. But Casey’s half siblings want nothing to do with her. They stakes are high, and they want her gone. They’ll stop at nothing to protect the family dynasty.

The Groom Went Missing by Jenifer Ruff ~ 5⭐

Genre: Suspense Thriller ~ Release Date: May 2, 2022

REVIEW: Jenifer Ruff hit it out of the ball park with a grand slam home run with The Groom Went Missing. This has to be the best book I’ve read by her yet. Don’t get me wrong, I love her books but, this one is the best one so far.

I haven’t communicated with the author so, I am not sure what brought about this change in her work. This book is on a whole new level. I love how she tells different sides of the story in the different parts. There are three parts to this book. You have to shift gears a little bit when you leave each part. The change of gears is smooth and although I felt a little resistance on my part when we entered into the new parts, I soon was right back into the story. I was totally invested in this book. I couldn’t wait to find out what was happening next and what happened to the groom. Is he ok? Where is he? This book was unputdownable. I devoured it.

Some of the characters were the same. Victoria and Ned returned. I love how they have blended her love for rescuing animals and his veterinary skills to better the lives of homeless and injured animals. Their love for each other shines through. I liked some of the other characters in the book and like any good book there were a few I did not like. Her character development in this story is perfect. You feel like you’ve met these people somewhere berfore. They are not predictible but, they have a familiar feeling to them.

“The Groom Went Missing” An Agent Victoria Heslin Thriller Book Five is of course book five in the series and can be written as a stand alone. You don’t need to read them in order. I have read the last three out of the five. I do have the first two and have promised myself that I will go back and read book one and two. I want to assure you that you will not feel lost if you start with The Groom Went Missing. I know you will be jumping into the rabbit hole and will have to go back and read the first four. Number Six is Vanished on Vacation and is slated to be released in October. I can’t wait to see what Jenifer Ruff brings us next. The title sounds intriguing!

“Totally engrossing. The latest Victoria Heslin Thriller is a well-crafted blend of intrigue and suspense. A perfect read for fans of The Guest List by Lucy Foley.” – USA Today bestselling author, Audrey. J. Cole

Mulberry Hollow by Denise Hunter ~ 5⭐

Genre: Contemporary Christian Romance ~ Release Date: April 19, 2022

REVIEW: Mulberry Hollow by Denise Hunter is the second of three books in A Riverbend Romance Series. The first book is Riverbend Gap. I fell in love with the first book and couldn’t resist another vist with the characters and the town of Riverbend Gap.

If you haven’t read the first book yet, you don’t have to as these books do well on their own but, I highly recommend this series. It is just the kind of place and the kind of people I would like to live in and around. There is one more book to this series and I can’t wait for that one but, on the otherhand, I’m not looking forward to the end. I always hate to see a good series come to an end. I think I could live in them for a long time.

Denise Hunter has a writing style that just brings her stories to life. You don’t have to think about it. It flows so easily and pulls you forward from page one. There is not a great mystery other than what happens to the characters and where life will lead them. Her characters are full of love for their town, family and helping where they can.

If you love a good clean story that has characters that mean something to you and worm their way into your heart, this is a series for you. It brings out all the feels and makes you happy you found the little town of Riverbend Gap. I hope you’ll join me in reading this series.

I received a complimentary copy of this book from #Netgalley, #ThomasNelsonPublishing. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

I Heard You Scream by Emerald O’Brien ~ 4⭐

Genre: Phycological Fiction ~ Release Date: April 21,2022

REVIEW: I had the pleasure of reading the newest book to be released by Emerald O’Brien called I Heard You Scream. What a book! If you have read any other books by her, you know she puts out a very good suspenseful novel. I have enjoyed the previous books that I have read by her so, I was really looking forward to I Heard You Scream!

I Heard You Scream was a bit different from what I have read by Emerald so far. This book is centered around a group of young adults. I thought they were a bit self centered and immature. I didn’t see them as mature, upstanding citizens although some of them were teachers and heads of schools. I understand that an author can create and develop any kind of situation and character she chooses and that usually makes for a most interesting book. I just didn’t like any of the characters in this book. They were all under my suspicion and I think they were all guilty of some crime or at least a crime against a friend if not a legal crime.

The story line took a while for me to be invested and the twists and turns in the last half of the book kept me intersted and turning the pages. I at some point had to know what exactly was going on and who was responsible. Overall, I enjoyed the book. Just not the characters. I guess they didn’t pretend to be my kind of people?

If you like Psychological Suspense, then this book will be right up your alley. If you like Kiersten Modglin, you know what you are in for. I highly recommend this book!

Sweet Carolina Gals by Susan Schild ~ 5⭐

Genre: Southern Fiction ~ Release Date: May 25, 2022

REVIEW: Susan Schild knocked it out of the ballpark with Sweet Carolina Gals the third book in the “A Second Chance at Love Series”. They just get better and better. I loved this one! There is so much going on. I am never bored when I read one of Susan’s books but, this one will keep you turning the pages to see what is happening with these ladies next.

This book starts out with Linnie on her honeymoon with that hunk of a vet named Jack in the middle of a white water rafting trip. Let me tell you right now, it is just the beginning of this rollercoaster of a ride book. Linnie’s mom and her lady friends are busily planning that cross country RV trip. Sounds like fun. Right? I mean, what kind of trouble can four senior women get into? Well…hang onto your hats!

These characters are so much fun! They will give you all the feels. You will laugh out loud, shed a tear, say a few prayers and sigh with happiness when you turn the last page of the story. So much happens. So much needed to happen. I can’t say enough about how much I have enjoyed this series. If you haven’t started reading it yet, I assure you, you don’t want to miss out on all the fun. I devoured this book in twenty-four hours. I can’t wait for more from Susan Schild.

Susan writes the best Later in Life Southern Fiction. I just can’t get enough! She is one of those authors I don’t even need to read the synopsis to know I want to read the book. They are down home, heartwarming and just plain fun. If you’ve read any of Susan’s books, you know what I mean. If you haven’t, jump on the wagon and join the fun!

214 Palmer Street by Karen McQuestion ~ 5⭐

Genre: Phycological & Domestic Thriller ~ Release Date: April 6, 2022

REVIEW: Karen McQuestion has penned a winner!

I have to say any book that uses my name has to be one of my favorite books. I was reading 214 Palmer Street by Karen McQuestion when a character came to my attention by the name of Grace Pisanelli! I remembered her telling me she was going to name a character after me but, I had forgotten. The time between books and my age may have had something to do with that. I remember my husband asked me at the time if Karen was going to use my first name or my last. I didn’t know. Well…he is very happy that his family name is in the book. I am honored to be called Grace. Thank you Karen! That was a special moment I won’t forget.

On to the book. I couldn’t figure out where the book was going and I just had to keep reading. I don’t often read the synopsis beforehand so, sometimes I am a little bit blind. The book has several twists and turns. I wasn’t sure which one was going to be the beginning of the end. I enjoyed the story line a lot! I kept wondering what each character was up to. This is one of those books you just have to keep reading. You have several characters you think may have done a dirty deed and several that you knew were totally innocent. You do need to watch out for those that look innocent. They may be the guilty one!

The character development was spot on. You have the hotsy totsy woman that flirts with all the men. There is the police chief, the loving and doting husband, the old lady that is not very tech or safety savy and the innocent wife and the high school friend that ran away years ago. They are perfectly developed to play their parts. Some of them will surprise you.

If you love a good Psychological Suspense, then this book is for you. If you’re not sure if this genre is for you, give this one a try. I think the story has many facets that you will like and you might find yourself hooked. I have enjoyed every book that Karen has written and 214 Palmer Street is right up there with the best of them. I loved it!

I received a complimentary copy of this book from #Netgalley, #Bookouture and #KarenMcQuestion. All opinions expressed are completely my own.

The Wedding Veil by Kristy Woodson Harvey ~ 5⭐

Genres: Historical & Southern Fiction ~ Release Date: March 29, 2022

REVIEW: Oh my goodess! The Wedding Veil by Kristy Woodson Harvey is a wonderful book. I love this book because it has a dual timeline that brought more depth to the story. I have loved all of the books I have read by this author. They all are southern fiction. This one is too but, is also Historical Fiction. I believe it is my favorite of all of her books.

One timeline is the story of the Vanderbilt mansion called the Biltmore and the women who lived there. The Biltmore was built and owned by George Vanderbilt. He met and married his wife Edith at the age of 35. I believe she was 25 and they were married until he died 16 years later. They had one daughter that inherited the Biltmore whose name was Cornelia. Edith always said George was the true love of her life although she went on to marry one more time. I love the Biltmore and have visited there three times over the years. It was facinating to learn of it’s history and the expense to the family taking care of the largest family owned home in the United States. It has 250 rooms!

The other takes place in several locations. It is about a family that has a wedding veil that is supposed to bring whoever wears it to wed a lifetime of love and happiness. The most recent bride to wear it learns some interesting facts about the veil that I can’t tell you about. This timeline was more of what you expect out of Harvey’s books. It was nice to have the two timelines and watch how they were eventually weaved together.

The characters were well developed and likeable, the history was well researched and the storyline was very cleaver. If you are a fan of Historical and Southern Fiction, you will fall in love with this book. If you love Kristy Woodson Harvey and weren’t sure if this book was for you because it is a little different, take my advise and jump right in. You are going to be glad you did.

SYNOPSIS: The New York Times bestselling author of Under the Southern Sky and the Peachtree Bluff series brings “her signature wit, charm, and heart” (Woman’s World) to this sweeping new novel following four women across generations, bound by a beautiful wedding veil and a connection to the famous Vanderbilt family.

Four women. One family heirloom. A secret connection that will change their lives—and history as they know it.

Present Day: Julia Baxter’s wedding veil, bequeathed to her great-grandmother by a mysterious woman on a train in the 1930s, has passed through generations of her family as a symbol of a happy marriage. But on the morning of her wedding day, something tells her that even the veil’s good luck isn’t enough to make her marriage last forever. Overwhelmed and panicked, she escapes to the Virgin Islands to clear her head. Meanwhile, her grandmother Babs is also feeling shaken. Still grieving the death of her beloved husband, she decides to move out of the house they once shared and into a retirement community. Though she hopes it’s a new beginning, she does not expect to run into an old flame, dredging up the same complicated emotions she felt a lifetime ago.

1914: Socialite Edith Vanderbilt is struggling to manage the luxurious Biltmore Estate after the untimely death of her cherished husband. With 250 rooms to oversee and an entire village dependent on her family to stay afloat, Edith is determined to uphold the Vanderbilt legacy—and prepare her free-spirited daughter Cornelia to inherit it—in spite of her family’s deteriorating financial situation. But Cornelia has dreams of her own. Asheville, North Carolina has always been her safe haven away from the prying eyes of the press, but as she explores more of the rapidly changing world around her, she’s torn between upholding tradition and pursuing the exciting future that lies beyond Biltmore’s gilded gates.

In the vein of Therese Anne Fowler’s A Well-Behaved Woman and Jennifer Robson’s The GownThe Wedding Veil brings to vivid life a group of remarkable women forging their own paths—and explores the mystery of a national heirloom lost to time.

Welcome to the School by the Sea by Jenny Colgan ~ 4⭐

Genre: Friendship Fiction ~ Release Date: March 29, 2022

REVIEW: Welcome to the School by the Sea by Jenny Colgan is the first book in a series that she is releasing under her own name. She originally wrote it under the pen name Jane Beaton. They weren’t big sellers but, eventually people found their way to them. In the preface she tells us it is to be a six book series and in the blurb it says it is a four part series. Your guess is as good as mine at this point.  We’ll wait and see.

I have read several of Jenny Colgan’s books and have enjoyed them. This one was good but, not at the top of my list. She has peaked my interest enough that I will have my eye out for book two. It wasn’t awful but, it felt a little slow to me. It takes place at a boarding school. The story is about a girl’s school and over the hill is the boy’s school. The boys and girls have a few activities together during the year but, mostly they are apart.

With the first book we are getting to meet the various characters and how they wound up at this school as either teachers or students. The English teacher is Maggie Adair and she has a boyfriend named Stan. They have had a long term relationship and a good bit of this book is about Maggie and six or eight of her students. She grew up in a more metro area and was hoping that teaching at this school would give her more skills to take home to her old neighborhood. She finds herself falling in love with the school and not wanting to leave.

The name of the School is Downey Hall and it is an old castle in Cornwall, Scotland. I can’t imagine leaving a place like Downey Hall that sits right on the water. Wouldn’t that be a dream come true? This is again another book I’ve picked up that takes place in Scotland. I found out in the last year that I am mostly Scottish. I wonder if these books are telling me I need to go for a visit? Anyway, I’m having a blast learning little tidbits about the homeland of my ancestors.

If you love books that are set at boarding schools and in a foreign country, you’ll most likely enjoy this book. You can pre-order it now and it will be in your in box on release day. Happy reading!

SYNOPSIS: The first book of Jenny Colgan’s delightful new four-part series, set at a charming English boarding school on the sea.

Maggie went to the window and opened it wide, inhaling the lovely salt air off the sea. Why had she never lived by the sea before? Why had she always looked out on housing estates and not the little white hulls of trawlers bobbing off in the distance?

It’s gloriously sunny in Cornwall as the school year starts at the little boarding school by the sea. Maggie, the newest teacher at Downey House, is determined to make her mark. She’s delighted by her new teaching job, but will it come at the expense of her relationship with her safe, dependable boyfriend Stan?

Simone is excited and nervous: she’s won a scholarship to the prestigious boarding school and wants to make her parents proud. Forced to share a room with the glossy, posh girls of Downey House, she needs to find a friend, fast.

Fliss is furious. She’s never wanted to go to boarding school and hates being sent away from her home. As Simone tries desperately to fit in, Fliss tries desperately to get out.

Over the course of one year, friendships will bloom and lives will be changed forever. Life at the Little School by the Sea is never dull…

A Life Unraveled by Jill Hannah Anderson ~ 5⭐

Genre: Contemporary Literary Fiction ~ Release Date: March 22, 2022

REVIEW: I’ve been running behind a lot lately. I really wanted to finish A Life Unraveled by Jill Hannah Anderson on time. I lost track of the days and within an hour of finishing the book I received and email reminding me today was release day! I’m glad I made it. I have been dealing with some health issues and really upset that it has slowed down the reading and reviewing process.

First of all, I loved this book! Lily is the main character and she draws compassion from us and so much more. You want to drop into her life and straighten things out for her. In the beginninng of the book she suffers a near life threatening attack while she is jogging. Her attacker is the High School football star. Things change for her and her family in a drastic way. Her children suffer at school, her husband takes on a lot more responsibility and parents from both sides tag team to take care of her during her recovery.

Luke, her husband, is a dream. He is supportive in every way. When things begin to happen, he has a hard time dealing. What’s going on is anybody’s guess. He sticks by his wife and honors his commitment. He does the right thing.

There are some family dynamics that play into this book. I love how communication and honesty are stressed because that is the only thing that works when going through some of life’s problems.

This was a suspenseful story, full of love and heartbreak. It is a book that will forever stay close to my heart. If, you like that kind of story, I highly recommend this book. It’s available today and it is at a great price. So… what are you waiting for? Go get your copy. You’re gonna love it!
