Review Policy

Thank you for your interest in Phyllis Jones Pisanelli Reviews! To ensure a great fit for both the author and the reviewer, please see my guidelines below.

My Approach to Reviews

I view my role as a post-retirement career and a way to support the literary community. I am a detail-oriented reviewer who uses Google Sheets to meticulously track my reading schedule and ensure I meet my goal of at least five to six reviews per month.

Star Ratings & Philosophy

I believe every story deserves a fair look and that authors put their heart and soul into their work. Because of this:

  • Positive Promotion: I primarily post 4 and 5-star reviews.
  • The “No-Rip” Rule: I am not here to tear an author’s work apart. If I truly do not enjoy a book or cannot connect with the story, I generally choose not to review it. I believe that every book has an audience, and I would rather leave the review to someone who truly resonates with that specific work.
  • Fairness: Every book I accept is given a thoughtful, honest, and fair evaluation.

Preferred Formats & Platforms

  • NetGalley: I am a regular NetGalley member and frequently review titles from their platform.
  • Direct Requests: I am open to requests from authors and publishers, provided the timeline fits my current spreadsheet of deadlines.
  • Visibility: My reviews are posted here on my blog and shared across my online presence to help readers find their next favorite book. This includes many groups and pages on Facebook, Goodreads, BookBub, Amazon, Barnes and Noble, Books-A-Million, Instagram and X.

What I’m Looking For

While I am open to various genres, I am most drawn to stories with strong heart and compelling characters. If you think your book would be a good fit for my “nose-in-a-book” lifestyle, please feel free to reach out!
